***The IthacaMafia MixTape: vol.2***

Well, Here's another edition of the MixTape. A lotta rock in this one, with some spice thrown in. It's quite fun putting these together, for with the advent of the iPod, I rarely find that I have to keep my mixes to an hour or less... Much more challenging than I would have thought. Look for Vol. 3 next week -- right now it's looking like an Acoustic jam.

1. - "Rape Me" by Nirvana

[Possibly my favorite song of theirs. I didn't come around on them until a few years after their demise, but even I couldn't deny the cojones on this song when it came out. Not one to sing around your mama.]

2. - "Walk Away" by The Dropkick Murphys

[This one is from their last album, and I felt it kept the tempo up nicely. Love these boys from Beantown, and not just because they wrote the theme song for the 2004 World Champion Boston Red Sox...]

3. - "Los Angeles Is Burning" by Bad Religion

[For No and Spermy and all the other Ex-pat east coasters. Two reasons to love this song? 1.) It's about LA burning down. 2.) It's by Bad Religion.]

4. - "How Soon Is Now" by The Smiths

[Another song that I re-discovered a few years ago. The dude might claim to be Asexual, but he can put together a good tune.]

5. - "Mine's Not A High Horse" by The Shins

["Zach Braff like, LOVES these guys, but, like, he TOTALLY was into them before they got big, ya know?"]

6. - "Hands Down" by Dashboard Confessional w/ Michael Stipe

[From that MTV2 "Album Covers" show, of which, I think there were only like two episodes. Dashboard doing "Automatic..." and Guster doing "Add It Up"... For the life of me, I can't understand why they didn't do more of these shows. It would easily have been the new "Unplugged", but I only caught it one time. Totally bizarre. Guess they decided they needed another season of Ashley Simpson.]

7. - "New York City Cops" (live in Iceland) by the Strokes

[Saw em' at Central Park this past summer and Myself, Amy, and Allie were the ONLY people dancing. All the others were WAY too cool for school -- or at least too L.E.S. for dancing...]

8. - "Muzzle" by Smashing Pumpkins

[One of my favorite Pumpkin songs because, of course, it's all about the angst. Was never that angst-y, but MAN did it sing to me. Sing it, Billy. You never should have shaved your head.]

9. - "Hyperspace" by Nada Surf

[How they didn't register on anyone's radar after the song "Popular" is beyond me. They've quietly released a number of SUPERB albums over the last few years.]

10. - "BAD CARTRIDGE (E-Pro remix)" by Beck

[I only wish all Nintendo games had music like this. But, then again, if that were the case, I never would have left the house and I'd probably still be a virgin.]

11. - "Boulevard of Broken Songs" by Green Day / Oasis / Travis

[Frants hooked me up w/ "American Idiot" and I've been listening all week. One of them mixers that combines "Boulevard" with a little Oasis and friends...]

12. - "Fuck the Pain Away" by Peaches

[This was a favorite on "Ed" in the Writer's Office, and then it was featured in Lost In Translation. This goes out to Marcs, who accidentally played it not once, but TWICE -- over the restaurant stereo while working at the Chili's in LaGuardia....]

13. - "Jenifa Taught Me (Derwin's Revenge)" by De La Soul

[A shiny quarter to the NON-EMPLOYEE of "Ed" who can tell me what scene this was used in...]

14. - "Mother Nature's Rump" by The Beastles

[Some dude mixed Beatles and Beasties. This is the best of his efforts.]

15. - "Cowboy Love" by The Reverend Horton Heat

[Find me another Interracial Gay Cowboy song. I fucking DARE you.]

16. - "Shiverin' In The Corner" by the Amazing Royal Crowns

[These guys were a goddamn PHENOM to see live. Sweat sweat sweat. And the singer, King Kendall, had some bad-ass fucking tatoos as well.]

17. - "People Who Have Died" by Jim Carroll

[Song title really explains it all. That's what it's about. Always enjoyed this one, but the best use of it was at the end of the surprisingly good remake of "Dawn of the Dead."]
