Hey there gang-o-mine, here's the newest Mixtape for your enjoyment. Most of these songs are inspirado'd by the summertime and the energy, hotness, and all-around schweatyness found therein. I hope you'll take a heaping portion of it and pop it onto your pods to partake. ALSO, y'all should know that I'm currently working on no less than three more mixes (all with themes), so you should be up on the mixtaping for quite some time to come -- as long as I keep having time to make them. Keep an eye on Ithacamafia.com and (soon) Shufflethis.com! -- Kluv, 7/1/05

1. - "Intro" by Madvillain

[Couldn't pass up the opportunity to use an introduction by a rapper who fashions himself after Dr. Doom -- with metal mask and all.]

2. - "Little Sister" by Queens of the Stone Age

[More cowbell! QOTSA usually have at least one sure-fire asskicking song on their albums. This happens to be the one from the most recent release. It also is the song that was pared perfectly for Will Farrell's return to SNL this past season. He kept it up for the whole song, too -- impressive.]

3. - "Every Day I Love You Less and Less" by Kaiser Chiefs

[This definitely-not-a-love-song makes me want to bounce up and down and bob my head, whether I'm on the subway or walking down the street. Kaiser Chiefs are one of these young British bands all fighting over the title of 'next big thing'. Don't know if that's true or not, but I do know I dig this song.]

4. - "Feel Good, Inc." by Gorillaz

[They're cartoon characters. They make great songs. This is one of them. Another great head bopping, make-you-move jaunt (which you might have seen featured in an iPod commercial). Makes me want to roller skate, in the cool, looks-like-your-dancing way.]

5. - "She Drives Me Crazy" by Fine Young Cannibals

[Let's see a show of hands for those who roller-skated to THIS song, back in the day. Never really realized back then that this song is basically about a guy who goes nuts and starts stalking this girl. Well, of COURSE she wouldn't go out with him -- he sounds like a girl. But it works for this song, in a good way.]

6. - "Who Put Bomp?" by Me First And The Gimmie Gimmies

[Seriously, does anyone know who put the bomp in the bomp-a-bomp-ba-bomp? Dup-do-dup-dup-dup!]

7. - "1977" by The Clash

[I love the Clash, and this song is called 1977 -- the year I was born. Thus, the clash loved me, too.]

8. - "Wake Up" by The Arcade Fire

[Off the uber-good album "Funeral", this track was the opening song for U2's pre-show music on the past tour. The first chords would start, and you knew that something was happening. And id sure was. Not just the concert, but the song builds and builds up to this saturation point, where it's ready to spill over -- and finally lets everything go into a big, messy, joyous dance. So yeah. Good song.]

9. - "Fix You" by Coldplay

[Speaking of good songs... Coldplay may get slagged (the NY Times had a scathing piece talking about how they are everything that's wrong with music today, and have spawned mediocre copycat acts like TRAVIS -- except for the fact that the douchebag writer didn't mention the fact that Travis was around, and making great music, a good 8+ years before Coldplay existed.) for "doing the same thing" (I don't agree), but if this is the "same thing" they keep doing... then Keep doing it, boys. Keep doing it.]

10. - "Trusted" by Ben Folds

[I am an insanely huge fan of Folds, and this last album is one that I reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaally reccomend. To explain, "Reinhold Messner" is my #1 desert-island favorite, and I feel that he's recaptured some of the dark complexity & sadness that accented "Messner" on this album, "Songs for Silverman". Part of that might be his return to the Piano/Drums/Bass trio, which he might have felt the need to ditch after the demise of BFF. Whatever the reason, just great stuff. Then again, is there anything I put on these mixes that I don't think is great?]

11. - "Looking At The World Thru The Bottom Of A Well" by Mike Doughty

[No! There isn't! And here is a great example. You all know how Matty and I have huge man-cruses on Doughty, and his recently released album only gives everyone more reason to love them some Doughty. He did a fabuloso rendition of this on "The Late Show With David Letterman" the other week. Just a great great job. Buy Haughty Melodic, kids. Simple as that.]

12. - "16 Military Wives" by The Decemberists

[Frants the Fop turned me onto the Decemberists, and I thank him for it. A great album that they recently released features this song. A bounceable, fantastical time on this song.]

13. - "Coffee & TV" by Blur

[I'm not sure if this is one of my favorite feel-good songs because it's also my favorite video or vice-versa. But if you've seen the adorable milk box walking to this song, you can't help but strut and enjoy the sunshine on your face. Trust me.]

14. - "Homicide" by 999

[This song is courtesy of Matty, as I like to strut to "Coffee & TV" he told me the other day how much he likes to strut to this one. Great summertime strutting going on here. And I couldn't agree more with him. So, give your compliments to Ire for this old-school jaunt.]

15. - "Girl" by Beck

[Someone described Beck's most recent album as a "Greatest Hits album of all New Music", and I couldn't agree more (in the good way). Girl is one track in particular that gives me great joy. And a little creepyness factor, as he is crooning to a little girl, I think.]

16. - "Rock and Roll" by The Velvet Underground

[Another great song for the summertime. Pop this one in while you're walking downtown in NYC and you can't help but feel it jive with the city bustling about you. Rock n' Roll, indeed.]

17. - "The Denial Twist" by The White Stripes

[I'm usually hot and cold with the Stripes, depending on the song. This is one that falls in the hot category for me, off their latest.]

18. - "The Last Song" by Foo Fighters

[This is the last song.]
